Primavera
Primavera
Primavera, in Italian, is the word for "Spring". To me, spring represents a time of growth, possibility, and rebirth, and this is exactly what this piece embodies. I originally had made my Nonna (grandmother) a coat in mustard yellow, which at the time I thought was quite something - looking back, and given that it was created before I was formally trained, it was not the quality I like to showcase in the present.
I sat with Nonna at her table and we put our heads together to create this one of a kind coat, incorporating cooler, more calming tones without bringing in yellows or other more warm accents a she had mentioned these do not compliment here normally. What I worked up is a mixture of whimsy with a touch a fun while still maintaining an overall more polished look.
The lining was added in order to provide some extra insulation so that this coat can be worn for additional months of the year.
