Who are you?

What inspired this brand?

When I was in grade school, I was always a bit different from the other kids. This continued into highschool, where, despite at the time presenting masculine, I had begun wanting to express more in clothing, if nothing else just so I didnt have to wear the same thing as someone else. I have always been raised to treat the planet, our home, with respect and stewardship, so this connection to my business felt only logical. The people who have stood against what I do - and who I am, have always fanned the flames under me and pushed me that much harder

When did you start sewing?

I started sewing in my grade 12 year, for the most part. I had made one or two small things like a tea towel, or a little apron, but my first real attempts at sewing were what took me into the world I love to be a part of.

How do you get your confidence?

I've always been this way. I don't draw from a well of energy per say, except for perhaps the naysayers. Each person who tries to tell me that what I do is wrong has always pushed my head that much higher, and drove my foot to the floor with that much more attitude

What do you think your brand will look like in a few years?

Its hard to say. I can see myself doing some form of public speaking / mentorship. I would love to share my story with the world and help other queer and non conforming youth see a role model, as an adult, who has overcome those challenges that when facing in highschool feel like they could take you to your knees. I want to be a beacon to all the people out there just one smile or one nod from finding the strength to live their most authentic self - whoever that looks like.

Why do you find it so important to be out as queer and dress like this?

When I was young, and in highschool/ in my formative years, I learned a lot from the world around me, but one thing I did not see were queer role models. Due to societal conditioning for people to believe that queer behaviour was shameful, and better hidden away, as well as deadly viruses not so recently subdued, there was a clear and missing part of the community of people who I would learn I was apart of - the elders, the role models, the secret keepers. I did not see the extent at which I could truly BE until I became it, by testing my boundaries each step along the way. While I would want each person to have their own path, I hope that my being alive, unabashedly queer, and forever one of a kind, will help to inspire other folks to do the same. I want to be the role model I never had and inspire the next generation to bring more acceptance, more love, more compassion, than mine. That is why I so unapologetically express myself.

How is your product made?

How is your brand Sustainable?

I use 100% second hand material, and use as many secondhand notions as I can. I repurpose and provide a new use for fabrics that are forgotten, which extends their lifespan and makes them into an entirely new creation than they were before

I make each piece one of a kind, to ensure that the wearer will have a unique experience with this piece and wont be faced with seeing someone wearing the same item.

Do you make all your pieces by hand?

All pieces are made using a mixture of Haute Couture hand finishing techniques and Industrial finishing. Main seams are done by machine unless requested to be done by hand, as are finishes. With that being said, sometimes a piece calls me to a more couture finish and I will apply this pro-bono or for the effect of a finish

When you design, do you make your own patterns?

My patterns are made by me, or are an adaptation of existing patterns, adjusted to match the measurements of my clients. Each adjustment is done by hand on paper, then cut out into fabric after being compared to other pieces to ensure that the dimensions are matching.

Do you use Leather, fur or Suede?

If I were to use leather or fur, I would only use reclaimed material, as the animal had already been subject to the end of its life and provided the materials. I would need to use this material purposefully, and would not feel comfortable incorporating this without an expressed reason and some testing of the concept.

How do I get your product?

Do you sell anywhere?

I do sell in Victoria BC, Canada, at Market Collective, a fabulous local shop that sells products made by hand by local artisans. The products I sell in this shop are meditation pillows/ sit pillows, which are made from scraps of fabric and also are stuffed with cuttings/ small scraps of material to create a really nice, solid pillow. These make a great accent detail for your home, shop, or studio.

When you send product, will you include Tracking?

Tracking will be included with all orders, to ensure you know where your piece is at any time! If you have issues with following the tracking through the carrier, please let me know, and I can do a deeper dive and contact them

How long will it take for you to finish my custom order?

Custom orders take time, since each step is purposeful, has to be done by me personally, and is balanced delicately with my primary job to ensure I can do both. When you order, we will set a rough plan surrounding the timeframe of the piece, and if there are any delays I will make sure to message you with status updates.

Regarding the process itself, you will also have the option to receive photos / text to keep you up to date on the product, and will also be consulted with if anything comes up which may require an alteration, or change to the originally discussed garment.
