I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the wonderful and gorgeous Sara for contacting me to have this piece made custom. I was working from a very old pattern for this piece (vintage, picture tissue paper, but falling apart if you so much as breathe on it) and working on pattern drafting/ customizing this piece without a fitting due to the distance between our locations. Sara had found a piece I had made in the past, at a shop and had loved the design but had wanted a specific set of colours, and a more tailored fit, as the other one wasn't the correct size.
We worked together to create the piece you see here, after some back and forth about the design, features, colours, as well as the fabrics that were to be used. The diamonds on the sides are small diamond shaped pockets (yes pockets!) with a button for closure, which perfectly fit an ID card, or pass, for if one were to go out for the night, and also have space for keys, or a lip gloss. I lined this piece and completed the zipper and neckline lining by hand, to keep the neckline free of topstitching, or other distracting details. The diamonds down the center front were added to bring the attention to the center of the garment, and point towards the waistline, which I find helps draw the eye as well.
