Purdy in Pink
Purdy in Pink
These coats were created for my partner and I, because we wanted to have some garments to wear together, which were matching. When I was initially searching for fabric, I certainly did not have pinks in mind, let alone pastel, as I generally am more inclined to take home Reds, Yellows, and Oranges. There was something however, which piqued my interest about this particular fabric, which made me go "AH - That's the one", and I had reached for my partners arm and shown them the panels that had just shown up. They looked at them and said they were nice, and that was enough for me. When the creation process began, it became clear that there was almost enough fabric to do the whole shell of the coat, but not quite. My partner wisely suggested doing a part of the sleeve, as well as a panel on the back, in the lilac floral which breaks up the solid pink. Not only was this a fantastic suggestion that saved the garment, it also was an inspired use of other fabrics I had laying about. When I say that I feel like we look like kings in these, I am understating - I could not be prouder to wear these and to don them around the city on dates and adventures.
